Happy Birthday Lainie

Posted on Apr 11, 2012

Today I am asking all of my family and friends to take a moment and remember Lainie, on what would have been her 24th birthday.

We would always celebrate her birthday by going out for her favorite foods, ribs and wings.  Since we're right in the middle of the Greek-Orthodox Holy Week, and observing the fast, some of us can't do that.  But it's ok, because whether you celebrated Easter this week or last, or are still in the midst of Passover, it's a good time to reflect and remember those who are no longer with us.  If there is one thing that has always sustained me, given me strength and helped me deal with my loss, it is my faith.  And practicing that faith this week, and today, helps me remember Lainie with love and joy, knowing that one day we will be together again.  Forever.  In a place where nothing can take us away from each other.

And until that day, I move forward with our mission at Lainie's Angels, to provide compassionate care and support to the families of children with cancer and blood disorders.   Thank you for your support these past twelve years, and for remembering Lainie today.  May her memory be eternal!
